do you know what links these songs. . .

San Antiono Rose Bob Wills
Louisiana Man Rusty and Doug
Chattanooga Choo Choo Glenn Miller
Can't Take My Eyes Off You Vikki Carr
Wichita Lineman Glen Campbell
The Girl From Ipanema Astrud Gilberto
Sugar, Sugar The Archies
Suspicious Minds Elvis
Little Woman Bobby Sherman
Son of a Preacher Man Dusty

it has nothing to do with me (altho I have listed them)

it has nothing to do with here (altho I have listed them here) (one of them used to be on my favourite LP from the Croydon Public Lending Library, where my life long affair with books and the persuit of genius began)(as you can tell, I didn't get very far with that, probably because I got sidetracked by music, initially Glenn Miller - that man has a lot to answer for) (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I got a guy. . . sorry, digressing)

it has nothing to do with the old band (even tho I did a Dusty number myself and one of the band members once described me as his Girl From Ipanema) (which, because I had never placed the title and the song together, was meaningless at the time) (altho I took it as a compliment, of sorts, later)

it has nothing to do with what's on the radio. . .

right, that's enough clues

over to you guys!

I do know! and I'll tell later, but if you know I'll be mightily impressed. . .

Oh dear God in Heaven.

They were all covered by Rolf Harris on his 'Playing with my Didgeridoo' Album.

Or else I haven't the vaguest notion, take your pick.

I sat in my thinking chair and thought and thought, but the best I could come up with is that I have a tummy ache, so...

I'm with Dinah on the geography ...but I know that the answer will be weirder than that.

OK, I'm back for another shot...all topped their Hit Parades of the day?
All written by left-handers?

I, Like The View said...

it's not so much who wrote them, or how successful they were, more where they were played. . .

;-)

Quick, or I may have to blaspheme again
