pobrecita?

not a cable issue, won't load from my hard drive up onto blogger via the image loading facility. . .

pobrecita?!?!?!

when my kids were little if they were sobbing and wailing...I would say, "pobrecita" (or "pobrecito" for the cub)

I, Like The View said...

my mother used to say "black man's hair never will be" which made no sense because I'd never seen a black man and thought she was referring to someone who had black hair

d'oh

is pobrecita Spanish?

katherine. said...

sorta spanish... maybe more mexican slang.

roughly translated to "poor little girl"

cute. . .

is the "c" pronounced "h" or a "k" sound?

katherine. said...

it would be the "s" sound

I don't know the real squiggly phonetic symbols...smile

and my spanish pronunciation is iffy:

poe-bray-see-tah

No sounds....just a sad look.....

I'll try again today Mel - maybe the "internal error" will have fixed itself. . .

I like visual arts so much tho, and it's part of what this is all about for me

(-:

Katherine an "s"? ok. . . I think the phoetic symbol for "s" is "s". . . if it's pronounced "s"

(not all of them are! the "s" in sugar, for example, is pronounced "sh", which is the one that looks kinda like an "f", the curly tailed kind but with no cross stroke: ʃ)

but I'm muttering poe-bray-see-tah as I write. . .

ooooh

and that's why I like fonts and typeface

look how the "f" when from being a courier plain type f to a lovely swirly one f just be adding italics!

katherine. said...

the "f" does look better as an "f" doesn't it?

now I am wondering how the spanish word sounds with a british accent?

I, Like The View said...

erm, Spanish?

. . .

laughing....apparently since my spanish does not sound...spanish...I was wrongly assuming yours would't either....

well, see, I figure that European Spanish sounds a little like French, and I can do that accent fairly well!

I've only ever spent 36 hours in Spain, so I'm not sure that my accent would be great to be honest

but, I do a mean "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. ...

(The Princess Bride)

"fais des beaux reves"

it seems this is used in a slightly different way than the literal translation...
