googled walnut whips...

Walnut Whips - A milk chocolate whirl with a whipped vanilla fondant cream centre and topped with a walnut. Really delicious, and very retro cool!

they sound delicious to me :)

But they don't have that second walnut half hidden at the bottom any more. I've never enjoyed them so much since.

Rimshot, I'll have your share if you don't want it.

Z!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never knew that there used to be a walnut hidden inside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mind you, I have only recently been converted to the delight that is the Walnut Whip. . . I used to be far fussier about the meringue filling than I am now. . .

Mel ask him how he eats them. . . I have the walnut first, then turn it upside down and eat the bottom of the chocolate cup and then suck and lick the filling out and by then the chocolate has usually half melted. . .

planet they are!

shot you'd like the rest of it, believe me!

It was the best bit. It was put on top of the base before the chocolate had quite set, so it had both chocolate and the fondant embedded in its crevices. When I was growing up in the 60s, they had the second walnut but at some time, probably in the early 70s, they vanished. When I tried a Walnut Whip again and the second walnut half wasn't there, I was so disappointed.

Also, you could get coffee flavoured filling years ago.

I used to love the coffee flavoured ones. But I'd forgotten the hidden walnut.
