sometimes I think about my childhood

and it makes me laugh

what a mish-mash!

The Elves and The Shoemaker, The Clangers, Morph, Noggin the Nog (above), Mr Benn, Hop on Pop with Dr Suess, Rapunzel, Pogle's Wood (below). . .

. . .The Ladybird Key Word Reading Scheme with Peter and Jane, Swallows and Amazons, The Observer Book of Trees, The Princess and The Pea (as follows - the only true illustrations, much as I do love Dulac). . .
.
. . .and, of course, not forgetting my favourite!
.

(I'm only sitting here doing this because The Teen is out at a gig on the other side of town and I'm worried sick. . . I mean, I know he'll be fine - all 6'3" of him, along with his mates. . . it's not like he hasn't gone out before. . . I know he'd call me if he was in trouble. . . but I can't bring myself to take my meds and go to bed without knowing he's safely tucked up and asleep. . . when is a mother supposed to stop worrying?)

When she's supposed it is altogether different than when she does (which I believe is never)

The answer to the big question is "never". Just try not to lick your hanky and dab a smudge off his cheek before he goes out - that's really annoying.

Glad you headlined with the very underrated Noggin.

Oh geeze......more to ask the Brit about! LOL

Ah well....I'll just hope the kiddo made it home safe and sound and that sleep found you.

As for when the worrying stops? Ummmm.....well......

<-- still spends some time worrying

LESS....but still some....

I know the waiting up listening for the door part. Sheesh.

to mel's advice...when The Cub was young he hated when I "licked the hanky" to wipe a smudge...so I would make HIM lick the hanky. I would just say "your spit or mine..."

katherine/Malc my mother used to do that to me and it was one of the things I swore I'd never do to my children

never have

(altho I do still remember the smell of her face powder on the hanky. . .)

mel/shot it is never, isn't it

Never is definitely it. But there's leavening, they do get better at caring for themselves, mostly.
