I've never really enjoyed nibbling nuts.

I'll have a mince pie, thanks.

I don't do rude (here), but you are more than welcome to

*saunters off whistling*

I was going to offer my nuts to any young lady who fancied nibbling them, but I know you don't do rude, so I didn't.

I'm sure else will be along sooner rather than later, with an offer like that

It looks very appetising, thank you. I must be a closet humusexual.

I love making humus

I'll come back when I'm done choking on my coffee.

Very pretty bitty pies. I like the starry bits. *sigh* I would, huh?

I could do the orange thingy--but I'm thinkin' I'd like to try the chestnuts, please.

Himself tried to convince me we should get some chestnuts for roasting and was telling me how he used to cut the skin on 'em prior to roasting them on an open fire.

*humming*

<--has now lost all train of thought and is singing.....LOL

Tiny pies (grins)...I like the angels

Chestnuts, yes please. I have no place for an open fire of my own (frowns...then pouts)

Satsumas, I've always considered citrus a summer fruit, and I don't believe I've ever had the pleasure of sampling an actual satsuma. I understand peeling them is a piece of piss.

Whatever that last thing is...I'll pass, thanks just the same.

I must say, until I spotted the bread, I did wonder why you thought Vicus would be interested in putting up the wallpaper for you.

Good morning. 12 days to go!!

morning Dave - crikey, you're cheery this morning! when will you reveal your intended xmas whereabouts then. . .

shot the last one is tahini, which is a little like homous only based in sesame seeds rather than chick peas - I love both (sesame seeds and chick peas, tahini and houmous) and used to make them myself

did you mean peeling them is a piece of pith. . .

ha ha ha

I am very fortunate that this house came with a fire in a grate; it's a fake one tho (which means no having to clear out the ashes and lug home coal or logs)

the house I grew up in had a real fire, and we used to go to a huge park in Kent every autumn and gather chestnuts and then roast them during the winter evenings. . .

one of my few happy memories from my childhood

Mel if you don't cut the skins they burst all over the place. . .

the worst thing about the chestnuts of my youth was having ones with a maggot in 'em (which happened about 50% of the time when I was young)(altho we gathered them ourselves my parents never seemed to bother to check for infestations)

if you buy shop bought ones you hope that the packer checked the nuts for the give-away little circular hole in the skin that shows a tiny bug has made its home inside

when I used to make mince pies, I always used to top them with stars or hearts

(oh, and at Christmas dinner I always serve chestnuts with the sprouts; and I make chestnut sauce to go with the bread sauce and the cranberry sauce, which all go with the turkey)
