today there are no shadows

there is light, because it's well past dawn. . .

. . .and the sun is shining somewhere up above

but there are clouds, between myself and the sun

funny how the shadows disappear when there is no direct light

there are patches of shade on the river - from the bridges - but they are not quite the same as shadows

there is wind - I can see it on the surface of the water

the water's surface tells so many stories depending on the light and the breeze and the flow of the tide

I think I need more coffee

Ah, you're awake.

barely. . .

. . .mind you the caffeine will kick in at some stage

Wiki describes caffeine as a bitter white crystalline xanthine alkaloid that acts as a psychoactive stimulant drug and a mild diuretic (speeds up urine production) in humans and other animals. Caffeine was discovered by a German chemist, Friedrich Ferdinand Runge, in 1819. He coined the term "kaffein", a chemical compound in coffee, which in English became caffeine. Caffeine is also called guaranine when found in guarana, mateine when found in mate, and theine when found in tea; all of these names are synonyms for the same chemical compound.

but quite why you think I'm literate I don't know!

OED: Literate: able to read and write.

I watched a sunrise from behind a cloud bank the other day. When it finally escaped above the cloud cover it semed as bright as midday. (even though it was only about eight o'clock).
I want to know stories about the water and the tide and the light and breeze :)

Was this last Tuesday???? Only it's Tuesday evening here and I can't work out how you managed to cram so much into only one Tuesday but I'm sure I've been here since last week? Haven't I?
Oh, hugs anyway
