the katherine wheel thing from the other day was because when I was little my father used to nail them to the garden fence, because here they are circular fireworks with four tails - the whole thing spins around when lit and fire sparks off the tails (it was akin to a form of torture, invented by a Queen Katherine I think) - and they can only spin around if they have a nail thru the middle. . .; 23:00
