the film Broke Back Mountain
and that's because I chose not to. . . the story, one of many equally beautiful (if you are of the XY persuasion and have only seen the film, you might not understand this), is to be found in a collection of short pieces of writing by Annie Proulx, Close Range: Wyoming Stories, and has provided me with many many moments of inspiration when examining life from the point of view of a "shirtsleeves within shirtsleeves moment" (upon which I dwelt frequently in the original I, Like The View)

An old flame of mine told me she loved the film, and cried all the way through it, because the men were so obviously in love with one another. I read the short story, and was intrigued, but surprised at how crudely drawn the sex scenes were.
I bought the film on DVD, but I haven't watched it yet. It hasn't ever felt like the right occasion, whatever that might be...
"A woman can be proud and stiff
When on love intent;
But Love has pitched his mansion
in the place of excrement;
For nothing can be sole or whole
That has not been rent."
W.B. Yeats
Don't you hate it when you lend somebody a book, and they never give it back to you?
no, I hate lurkers
when I read the story I never even noticed the sex bits, it was so obviously about love
or maybe that's my story I'm thinking of
I never 'lend' books. I give them away. For that matter, I never 'lend' anything that I expect back.
I always forget who I've lent books to.
Then I get myself another copy and then they return the book :)
I've never seen it either.
I read, I hand off.
Now, there's a few good ones I've kept for a second or third read--used to be I was a book hog. LOL
Boy....shirtsleeve within shirtsleeves moment... :-)
