Well? Hope it's all that!

My calendar that hangs in the kitchen has images of France for each month. It's a fantasy of mine to visit someday. (note:"fantasy")

We need songs, Mel. If someone doesn't burst into song here, I shall do so myself!

Anonymous said...

DId someone say 'burst into song'? Lets make this a musical. I'll do dance moves and everything.

My day in the hills
Has come to an end, I know.
A star has come out
To tell me it's time to go.
But deep in the dark green shadows,
There are voices that urge me to stay.
So I pause and I wait and I listen,
For one more sound,
For one more lovely thing
That the hills might say!
The hills are alive
With the sound of music,
With songs they have sung,
For a thousand years.
The hills fill my heart,
With the sound of music.
My heart wants to sing every song it hears.
My heart wants to beat like the wings
Of the birds that rise from the lake
To the trees.
My heart wants to sigh
Like a chime that flies
From a church on a breeze,
To laugh like a brook when it trips and falls
Over stones on its way
To sing through the night,
Like a lark who is learning to pray.
I go to the hills
When my heart is lonely.
I know I will hear
What I heard before.
My heart will be blessed
With the sound of music
And I'll sing once more.

Did you twirl around with your arms opened?

And here I was singin':

By the light....of the silvery moon....

(only cuz there's a meteor shower tomorrow morning that I'm well and truly looking forward to--please no clouds!)

Mel said...

k....opting to follow suit and get on the same page!

*aheemmmm!!!!!*

Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white, clean and bright
You look happy to meet me.....

Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow.....
Bloom and grow forever

Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Bless my homeland forever

Now it's time to say good night
Good night Sleep tight

Dream sweet dreams for me
Dream sweet dreams for you.

Close your eyes and I'll close mine
Good night Sleep tight
Now the moon begins to shine
Good night Sleep tight
Dream sweet dreams for me
Dream sweet dreams for you.

Good night Good night Everybody
Everybody everywhere
Good night.

I voted for you to blog from afar.

We won?

Where are you?

Mel said...

Awwwww.....what a lovely song AnonG!

*happy sigh*
I could get tucked in to that song.

Whadda the odds himself would do that for me? LOL

Can you say NIL?

Mel said...

Okay, I admit it. I miss ya.

And I went from AnonG's tune to:

Sleep my child and peace attend thee,
All through the night
Guardian angels God will send thee,
All through the night;
Soft the drowsy hours are creeping,
Hill and vale in slumber sleeping,
I my loved ones' watch am keeping,
All through the night.

And then RIGHT smack dab into Cyndi Lauper. LOL

All through the night
I'll be awake and I'll be with you
All through the night
This precious time when time is new
Oh, all through the night today
Knowing that we feel the same without saying

We have no past we won't reach back
Keep with me forward all through the night
And once we start the meter clicks
And it goes running all through the night
Until it ends there is no end

All through the night
stray cat is crying so stray cat sings back
All through the night
They have forgotten what by day they lack
Oh under those white street lamps
There is a little chance they may see

We have no past we won't reach back
Keep with me forward all through the night
And once we start the meter clicks
And it goes running all through the night
Until it ends there is no end

Oh the sleep in your eyes is enough
Let me be there let me stay there awhile

We have no past we won't reach back
Keep with me forward all through the night
And once we start the meter clicks
And it goes running all through the night
Until it ends there is no end
Keep with me forward all through the night
And once we start the meter clicks
And it goes running all through the night
Until it ends there is no end

Remember this one from the Bee Gees?

Ooh you're a holiday, such a holiday
Ooh you're a holiday, such a holiday

It's something I thinks worthwhile
If the puppet makes you smile
If not then you're throwing stones
Throwing stones, throwing stones

Ooh it's a funny game
Don't believe that it's all the same
Can't think what I've just said
Put the soft pillow on my head

Millions of eys can see
Yet why am I so blind
When the someone else is me
It's unkind, it's unkind

de de de de de de de de de de de de de
de de de de de de de de de de de de de

Yet millions of eyes can see
Yet why am I so blind
When the someone else is me
It's unkind, it's unkind

Ooh you're a holiday, ev'ry day, such a holiday
Now it's my turn to say, and I say you're a holiday
It's something I thinks worthwhile
If the puppet makes you smile
If now then you're throwing stones
Throwing stones, throwing stones

Oh, oh...this one might get stuck in your head!!

Hope you're enjoying YOUR holiday!

My mum used to sing this to me when she tucked me in as a youngling:

Down the way, where the nights are gay
And the sun shines daily on the mountain top
I took a trip on a sailing ship
And when I reached Jamaica
I made a stop.
But I'm, sad to say I'm on my way
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down, my head is spinning around
I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town.
Sounds of laughter, everywhere
And the dancing girls swing to and fro
I must declare my heart is there
Though I've been from Maine to Mexico.
But I'm, sad to say I'm on my way
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down, my head is spinning around
I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town.
Down at the market, you can hear
Ladies cry out while on their heads they bear
`Akey' rice, salt fish are nice
And the rum is good any time of year
But I'm sad to say I'm on my way
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down, my head is spinning around
I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town
But I'm sad to say I'm on my way
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down, my head is spinning around
I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town...

I have absolutely no bloody idea why. but I was reminded of it in first year because the caribbean gospel-singing cleaners at my halls used to sing it as they hoovered...

Sing out loud
Sing out strong
Sing of good things not bad
Sing of happy not sad

sing, sing a song
Make it simple to last
Your whole life long
Don’t worry that it’s not
Good enough for anyone

Just sing, sing a song

Here is my song for the asking
Ask me and I will play
So sweetly, Ill make you smile

This is my tune for the taking
Take it, dont turn away
Ive been waiting all my life

Thinking it over, Ive been sad
Thinking it over, Id be more than glad
To change my ways for the asking

Ask me and I will ply
All the love that I hold inside

And THEN it moved straight into--
Oh g'head and guess. LOL

I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces
All day through....

In that small cafe...
The park along the way
The childrens' carousel
The chestnut trees...
The wishingwell...

I'll be seeing you in every lovely summer's day
In everything that's light and gay
I'll always think of you that way
I'll see you, in the morning sun.....
And when the night is new....

I'll be looking at the moon.....
But I'll be seeing you....

Hey you surround me
like a blanket in my bed
The look in your eyes has stayed inside me
In my head
Outside its snowing
its odd for this time of year
Your light through the darkness
Getting smaller oh I fear

[Chorus]
Love love pulled us down in the gutter
Can you see us getting out oh i wonder
It's a long long lonely fight down inside me
Can I get you to bring back light or is this never again

:)

It does seem like a certain lady of our acquaintance has been a long time gone.....

"I was lost in France
In the fields the birds were singing
I was lost in France
And the day was just beginning
As I stood there in the morning rain
I had a feeling I can't explain
I was lost in France in love.

I was lost in France
In the street a band was playing
And the crowd all danced
Didn't catch what they were saying
When I looked up he was standing there
I knew I shouldn't but didn't care
I was lost in France in love

Oo la la la oo la la la dance
Oo la la la dancing

I was lost in France
And the vines were overflowing
I was lost in France
And a million stars were glowing
And I looked round for a telephone
To say
Baby I won't be home
I was lost in France in love.

Oo lalala oo la la la dance
Oo la la la oo la la la dancing"

Bonnie Tyler - Lost in France

Mel said...

Yup......*drumming fingers*

You can come back now?
Please?

*sigh*

And did someone say dance?

Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared beneath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known you'd ever say goodbye
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
Holding you I held everything
For a moment wasn't I the king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have changed it all
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
Yes my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance
