Drunk with Pines

Drunk with pines and long kisses,
like summer I steer the fast sail of the roses,
bent towards the death of the thin day,
stuck into my solid marine madness.

Pale and lashed to my ravenous water,
I cruise in the sour smell of the naked climate,
still dressed in grey and bitter sounds
and a sad crest of abandoned spray.

Hardened by passions, I go mounted on my one wave,
lunar, solar, burning and cold, all at once,
becalmed in the throat of the fortunate isles
that are white and sweet as cool hips.

In the moist night my garment of kisses trembles
charged to insanity with electric currents,
heroically divided into dreams
and intoxicating roses practising on me.

Upstream, in the midst of the outer waves,
your parallel body yields to my arms
like a fish infinitely fastened to my soul,
quick and slow, in the energy under the sky.

.
PABLO NERUDA

I was really getting into that, feeling quite moved by it, right up until the last verse.

"like a fish, infinitely fastened to my soul"

I'm sorry..the moment's gone...

. . .that's ok

wasn't my moment

shall search out another Neruda and either edit it harshly, or ensure it doesn't go limp at the wrong moment

(I lost it at "hardened by passions, I go mounted on my one wave"; but other parts of the poem are beautiful)

Yeah....'mounted' did it for me.

But I really liked the:Drunk with pines and long kisses,

What an awesome start...

sounds like a wet dream to me. :-)

I think taking a surfboard out on the sea is a very good metaphor for lovemaking. The combination of the wet with the dry and the firm with the fluid. And we're all friends with the Little Man in the Boat.

;-)

I, Like The View said...

erm, who exactly is the Little Man in the Boat?

Gordie said...

erm, your clitoris

I, Like The View said...

oh

huh?

that's the "Boat"?

so who is the "Little Man"?

Gordie said...

The labia are the boat, and the clitoris is a little man sitting in the end of the boat. It's something you teach boys, so they know where to look.

Don't know if you're a David Duchovny fan, but there's a scene in the first episode of Californication where he's being chased out of the house by a young man who just caught him in bed with his girlfriend, and he shouts "Yo K-Fed; the little man in the boat? He's up here. That's where he is!"

The word clitoris comes from the Greek word kleidos btw, which means "The Key".

I, Like The View said...

really?

wow

I wish I'd known that before

I, Like The View said...

erm, that was a little ambiguous, wasn't it, so I'll add this:

"now I know where I've been going wrong all these years. . . (and to think I even had a copy of Gray's Anatomy)"

which might make more sense of my last comment

Gordie said...

I just went to see if Gray's Anatomy is available online (it is) and have spent the last ten minutes ROFLMAO at the discovery that Gray managed to use the phrase 'in the groove' in a description of the female sexual organs.

I, Like The View said...

this is just getting funnier and funnier

how long can you keep it up

so to speak. . .

Gordie said...

Well, I think you've already worked out it's a bit of a hobby of mine...

I, Like The View said...

whatever happened to stamp collecting and train-spotting

Gordie said...

Well, I did write a couple of blog posts about half-naked women, diesel trains and Eric Gill's stamp designs. I ought to resume that thread really, it was quite cathartic.

I, Like The View said...

I loved the Eric Gill one

far more stimulating than the sexual stuff, for me anyhow; and, interestingly, I find you more interesting when you're writing about that* - but then, it's your blog not mine, so who am I to comment on that

as for naked women, I don't think you post enough images of truly beautiful naked women

I have some, actually

maybe I should?

(*when you write stuff like that it makes me wish we lived next door to each other - but that is me being totally selfish and just enjoying your large cranial organ because I can)
