launching "SS SW** Clouds"

well, I haven't cracked the champers on the prow yet willing victims being unavailable this weekend, but with a little help from my friends a hammock the size of an ark was assembled on the roof terrace. . .
.
if only I'd paid a little more attention to the words of advice in the catalogue. . .
.
"We all need to relax more!
Super-sized sculptural free-standing double sized hammock
and hardwood stand.
The stand will last for many years outside and looks great too,
if you have the space."
.
(if you have space being the subliminal suggestion that you need to measure the space you have first to make sure the item will fit into your space)
.
oh well! when you're up there, it's not like you're admiring the space of the roof, you're loving the view
.
and where better to do that from, than a hammock big enough for all four of you! The Teen said - rather jovially actually for him, which makes a nice change from the sarcasm and irony: "years of fun for all the family"
.
I never used to be a great advocate of the "live in it for a while" course of action on new homes and gardens, seeing as I always have a head full of ideas for everything and almost always the energy and enthusiasm to get going straight away and reach the point of fruition asap
.
but I have kind of ground to a halt once too often this weekend and think I need to take stock of where I am and why and what's going to happen to the children and I from here on in
.
the new abode will be their home for a number of years
.
it will be a happy home (to justify the angst and pain and sorrow I have put them thru in the last year)
.
it will be a comfortable home one that they want to come back to at the end of everyday and want to be in if they are not going out, and understand - after a year of some of the worst turbulence a parent can inflict on a child - is stable and has longevity and and and
.
I really really need to get it right
.
we talked about the possibility of not knocking the first floor about and Smallest Person having a room the size of a shoebox. . .
.
I could see the tears prick in her eyes, I felt her stomach churn and knew her breathing and heart rate were increasing with that feeling I now understand to be panic
.
I am not going to make her be a brave little soldier, I'll spend the car money on the structural work to get her room right and I'll just take the bus
.
we talked about taking the bath out of the room on the second floor and putting in a shower for the boys - XCH will forward me the money to do this, as I don't have enough for this work, as well as the work on SP's room - and the point of that minor alteration is that otherwise the bath will never be used and SP and I will have two smelly dirty XYs I'll-just-leave-my-underpants-and-used-towels-in-a-damp-heap-on-the-floor-for-someone-else-to-pick-up traipsing in an out of our shower room at all hours of the night and day. . .
.
why don't boys like to bathe? why do they only like to shower? I don't understand! will someone please explain the bathroom routines of teenage boys. . .
.
as the days progress there is less and less
that I understand about men, it seems
.
my learning curve on that one is plummeting
.
but right now, that's OK,
I'll focus on the smaller
but most important
picture for a while:
my boys
..
I'm their mother and I love them and they love me and that is all the interaction I really need to understand with the small(ish) but very very important XYs in my life
.
ho hum. . .
.
it's a bank holiday in the UK, and - amazingly enough - the sun is shining and the sky is clear
.
I hope wherever you are
that the sun shines for you too today
.
even if it's a few hundred feet above your head
between you being a layer of cloud. . .
.
. . .never forget that it is shining

Good morning.
I do hope it's a sunshiney day for you and yours--one that allows for cloud watching and warmth.
(finally had some of that yesterday....FINALLY!)

The hammock looks HUGE. LOL I suppose it has to be to accommodate four--but what a lovely accommodation!

The reason behinds showers is a gross one...(at least in my opinion) Teenage boys have some very unusual habits..Love the cloth sniffing to see if it's still clean enough to wear...BLEH>
Sounds like the house will be a home when you get done.
:)

I only like the shower. But I'm definitely not an XY.
But I do think it's a very good idea for you XY's to have their own shower. There's the power of Lynx to be kept at bay for a start...and I don't mean its pulling power, I mean its overpower!

You will get it right, I'm quite certain.
