It's a little bit funny this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money but boy if I did
I'd buy a big house where we both could live

If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show
I know it's not much but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song and this one's for you

And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world

I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on

So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen
.

Yup.....

Every single one.

I always liked this song and I don't know why.

Never dated a 'Keith'.
Betcha I never will! LOL

I love this song. . .

Yeah....but why?

Or maybe it's enough to know you love it?

*hummin' happily*

If I get to choose the stucksongitus for today, I'd like it to be this one, please.

Whadda the odds of THAT! LOL

cos I heard the music first, and it was beautiful. . .

then, when I heard the words I realised it wasn't "My Song" (so, OK, Keith hadn't written it for me)(but he played it for me). . .

but the words have always been perfect for a head like mine (altho that bit about the verses making me cross always makes me cross, cos it's not that difficult to come up with verses)(but I like the tortology of that)

and for a while I used to associate it with my mother. . . (after she died)

but it's just those soothing first few chords, at the beginning, and his voice is so perfect for it. . .

Exactly!
Yup, it's the opening chords that make everything else just....stop--commands my attention.

And it gets it, every time.
Still......

Isn't that amazing how some pieces just do that?!
