I caught this morning morning's minion,
king-dom of daylight's dauphin,
dapple-dawn-drawn Falcon, in his riding
..
king-dom of daylight's dauphin,
dapple-dawn-drawn Falcon, in his riding
..
Of the rolling level underneath him steady air, and striding
High there, how he rung upon the rein of a wimpling wing
In his ecstasy! then off, off forth on swing,
..
As a skate's heel sweeps smooth on a bow-bend: the hurl and gliding
Rebuffed the big wind. My heart in hiding
Stirred for a bird, - the achieve of, the mastery of the thing!
.
Brute beauty and valour and act, oh, air, pride, plume, here
Buckle! AND the fire that breaks from thee then, a billion
Times told lovelier, more dangerous, O my chevalier!
.
No wonder of it: sheer plod makes plough down sillion
Shine, and blue-bleak embers, ah my dear,
Fall, gall themselves, and gash gold-vermilion.

Whoaaaa...
*sigh* What beautiful photos.
I'll have to re-read the verse once the coffee takes hold. LOL
At the moment, it's all garbled--but I'm believing that's a reflection of my garbled brain.
;-)
You are welcome!!! C:)
Any time I can get credit for cutting and pasting, I will take it. C:D
And, very nice pictures. C:)
I don't know why, but whenever I see visible rays of light (like the ones in the third picture) I imagine it's God looking in on us. :-)
I love the rays in the third photo too - they look almost painted :)
well, like I said thank you craig - something about this made my heart sing. . .
and that's a good thing

(my nose looks too long in comparison to your face!)
one of my favourite poems
did i read it to you once?
or did i discover it after then?
i don't remember ... though i should, i know
hopkins - i read - was not just a balliol man but also a uranian (strange bedfellows)
there is an engraved bowl by laurence whistler, in the old common room at balliol, with the words of "duns scotus' oxford" by hopkins around the rim - do you remember seeing it?
des perado
Wonderful poem. I've always loved it.
Wonderful pictures to go with it too :)
