The smell of your skin lingers on me now
You're probably on your flight back to your home town
I need some shelter of my own protection, baby
To be with myself and centre,
Clarity, Peace, Serenity

I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
It's personal,
Myself and I
We've got some straightenin' out to do
And I'm gonna miss you
Like a child misses their blanket
But I've got to get a move on with my life
It's time to be a big girl now
And big girls don't cry
Don't cry
Don't cry
Don't cry

The path that I'm walking
I must go alone
I must take the baby steps
'Til I'm full grown, full grown
Fairytales don't always have a happy ending,
Do they?
And I foresee the dark ahead if I stay

Like the little school mate in the school yard
We'll play jacks and uno cards
I'll be your best friend and you'll be my Valentine
Yes, you can hold my hand if you want to
'Cause I want to hold yours too
We'll be playmates and lovers and share our secret worlds

But it's time for me to go home
It's getting late, dark outside
I need to be with myself and centre,
Clarity, Peace, Serenity
.
FERGIE
(it's actually a lot less mushy than
the impression given by the lyrics)

Wishing you the very best of luck with your 'exchange' (not sure what that means as they don't have that term as it relates to home-buying in the colonies).

So in honor of your impending relocation:

Our House
by C.S.N.&Y

I'll light the fire
You put the flowers in the vase
That you bought today

Staring at the fire
For hours and hours
While I listen to you
Play your love songs
All night long for me
Only for me

Come to me now
And rest your head for just five minutes
Everything is good
Such a cosy room
The windows are illuminated
By the sunshine through them
Fiery gems for you
Only for you

Our house is a very, very fine house
With two cats in the yard
Life used to be so hard
Now everything is easy
'Cause of you
And our la,la,la, la,la, la, la, la, la, la, la.....

Our house is a very, very fine house
With two cats in the yard
Life used to be so hard
Now everything is easy
'Cause of you
And Our

I'll light the fire
And you place the flowers in the jar
That you bought today

I tried so hard not to like Big Girls but that Melody..sheesh..it's simply irresistable.

Fergie (or her handlers) was very smart to throw a real song in the mix. Nobody will remember all of those throaway hip hoppers but this one will have legs and I will wager a few remakes....actually I don't even know if it is a redo?

I can even ignore the video and still enjoy this one...isn't it awful that most videos are more memorable than the songs?
Man am I getting old!

hadn't ever even heard of her! heard the song on the radio and tetxed myself the bit about the childhood blanket, so as to remember it, then googled it when I got back home. . .

will watch the video now, if I can find it - oh and thanks for dropping in M'Lord

Boy.......I'm REALLY gettin' ...old....

Not only do I not know the song, I don't know the singer.....NOR do I know how to text.....

*sigh*

Of course, I will now begin humming C,S,N & Y and that'll be stuck.
No worries, it's a fine song to go to sleep to.

*hugs*

I was going to post something about "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Frankie Vivaldi and the Four Seasons, but the persistent noise in my head is now the voice on a tape loop in the middle of 10CC's "I'm Not In Love"

I, Like The View said...

yeah, that happened to me to

then I got to thinking about keeping a picture on a wall which hides a nest of stains

Gordie said...

Wow, what a fantastic concept; a Nest of Stains, all hatching like cuckoos and demanding attention.

I, Like The View said...

cuckoos are naughty like that
