and then! (the newly extended version)

Smallest Person
came for a cuddle
and needed a little bit of cheering up

so we sang an ode to Brian (I had to do the whistling, as she can't quite do that yet) (she's only ten) and then I showed her the desert island piece and all your comments

this is what she has to say (verbatim):

"I find your comments very intriguing. . . but maybe you should all do a little bit more thinking? (especially Mr Escape, with the gun and all) as the desert island isn't haunted; considering you'd all be there for a reasonable amount of time - AKA four or five years - you should consider clothes above coffee! I certainly would bring food above luxury, as I wouldn't exactly want to go swimming for fish everyday for my food, altho I do fancy the idea of a little dip in warm tropical waters - oh, that reminds me, I would probably have to pack 110 bikinis that would grow with me. . .

". . .and obviously a SkyBox (*sigh* Ed). . .

". . .thinking more about what I would like to do, it would be nice to bring a young and energetic kitten but it would be hard to keep it away from the water. . . (not a nice image of the kitten drowning!). . .

SP and a kitten
(I can't get the photo to turn the right way)

"I would like to stay 10 years old tho, rather than come out as a teenager - it wouldn't be nice getting old, and I wouldn't want to have teenage tantrums on my own. . .

(she's almost running out of breath! Ed)

"oh! and I want a tent with a nice warm duvet and pillow. . .

"I think my suitcase is going to be as big as Mr Shot's. . .

"going on about craig's idea, I would probably like to bring a big jar of anti-loneliness - or maybe the kitten could provide that? or maybe I could bring a fold-up mum and a fold-up dad? OK I think my suitcase is a bit over the top. . .

"and mel, going on at your coffee idea, I'm more into hot chocolate, but I like making it, so maybe a complete kitchen! do you mind if anyone would mind me sticking in a whole house? and a plane to get it there, instead of a suitcase cos I've got so much stuff to take? oh, and all of my clothes! and a tumble dryer, except the laundry would have to do itself as I'm not going to wash my own clothes. . . and a radio which is always tuned to Heart Breakfast and a stereo with all my favourite music on it. . ."

it did continue for a little longer,
but Ed edited it
(think SP's cheered up a little now tho!)

SP has a lot to learn, if she thinks grown-ups don't do enouigh thinking. Bless her.

Be very careful with that jar of anti-loneliness!!! That stuff is addicting. And, while it can be used along with the "peace and quiet", it doesn't always react very well with the "confidence". Anti-loneliness combined with confidence can distort reality and enable us to do some pretty crazy things.

As for the fold up Mom and Dad, make sure you bring a remote with those so you can fold them back up from a distance if need be.

I'm quite pleased with myself that, even at my advanced age, my suitcase seems to come close to SP's. (while she wants a kitten, I've packed a puppy!) We've both considered the change in our body size and packed accordingly. We've both admitted to needing a great big suitcase.

The revolver isn't so much to keep the ghosties at bay as it is to make hunting any available game easier, however, as I've also packed three hunting knives, I could always forego the pistol. But then one never knows who'll be showing up later, there're plenty of baddies out there.

Regarding the food (Ed: now I'm running out of breath), I have my fruits and veg and a lovely sandwich (which I don't think I'll ever tire of) PLUS the fishing and hunting kit, so the best of both worlds there.

Thanks for the most excellent 'game'.

What a delight! And only 10.

I had to go back to read about the island (the beach looks like the one where we had a Christmas picnic)and I remembered all those Roy Plumley interviews for Desert Island Discs.
I think I would still take a gi-normous dictionary, with all the major myhtologies and Latin quotes; a selection of pens and pencils and paint;wine;coffee; and a bottle of happy laughter.

I did have a much more comprehensive list but blogger ate it. I'm pretty sure it had a sleeping bag and all my silk scarves on it.
And I do agree with SP about food (only coffee isn't luxury, it's necessity) but I couldn't think of a food I couldn't do without.
Anyway, she's definitely got the right idea about bringing the whole house.
And the kitten (I'm sure it would learn very quickly about water).

that is a beautiful kitten - excellent occupation for island dwellers, kitten sitting. Also a helicopter would be easier to land than a plane.

Well gosh....I didn't realize that whole rooms would be 'allowed' in the suitcast!

If that's the case, I'll be needing sidewalk chalk..... and the patio's going into the bag--along with the swing....and a McDonald's. LOL If whole rooms can go, so can a whole McDonalds! (I'd consider that a necessity--'specially given that I burn near everything I cook!)

But if a whole McDonald's can't go, I'd like one of those fold out people who's a really good cook, please....maybe I could get a clone of your fold-out mum cuz she tells good stories AND she sings AND she can cook!

And I'd kinda like a pet giraffe, too.
They could knock the coconuts outta the trees for me.

smallest person talking- I find your replys lovely. but i still dont get the guns. i think that you all need fold up people as no one is perfect and every body needs someone to help fix there mistakes. i like my game too and ed is out of breath explaining what this and that mean as i havent been around as long as you lot. my kitten would need a companion so that is an exuse for another fury friend. but i wouldn't want to be dumb so maybe a survial book would be handy. and chinise food. i love that stuff. well i could be here all day but i need ed to buy me a wii on amazon now so ta.

(now she's embarassed about her spelling mistakes - but I've reassured her it's only a blog and things like spelling, punctuation and grammar are really not important in the big scheme of things)

yay for SP! i was wondering when she'd get around to replying.

speling punktuashun and grandmer is over-rated (just ask my 19 year old son, he's yet to master any of those skilz)

i didn't know fold up people were allowed. I'll take a fold up mum and dad and a fold up Spider St. Valentine, and one each of you lovely lot. (so the puppy has people to play with)

Hello SP!

I didn't get round to making a list for this originally but I definitely would like an 'ed' who would buy me a nintendo Wii on Amazon....

Am I allowed to take Ed along with his/her internet access and credit card to my desert island? Pretty please?

I will need to be able to defend my Island Paradise in case Jeff Probst and those damned annoying Survivors show up and ruin the Edenic ambience of my exile with Bellucci.

(dash it's not fold-up-mum's credit card - doesn't stretch that far; it was an Amazon voucher for Xmas from a rich uncle in Oz)(FUM mum bought a really cool pair of shoes with her share and a book about Hepworth)(had to get rich uncle to resend the voucher of course, given that FUM had trashed the 'puter 'n' all)
